Why Adultery Is Wrong
Patricia Jones, M.A.
2 Peter 2:14, "Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: and a heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:"
Matthew 5:28. The definition of adultery includes the characteristic that it comes from within a person's heart and it is not caused by outside influences. Adultery is committed by two willing partners. One person in the relationship may have been the temptress or tempter, but the other person accepted the temptation.

Adultery is always birthed from our own heart. If you do not have adultery in your heart, you will not commit adultery no matter what the temptation. God knows that adultery starts in the heart and he considers us adulterers when we even think about committing adultery. When we have lust in our eyes for a person who is married to another, He considers us adulterers. (Matthew 5:28, “But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart”).
