Cindi has written another remarkable book. Like "Heart Hunger" her focus is on the personal loving relationship we can have with God. She also includes lots of Scripture to assure the reader that this is not "psychobabble" but her words have solid spiritual grounding.
What is new with this book is the hours Cindi has spent interviewing women who have walked alone or are walking alone. Some of the women share their answers and discoveries. Others describe what their alone-ness feels like and the questions that they have. Additionally Cindi looks hard at Deborah, Hagar, Leah and other women in the Bible to see what their lives have to tell us.

This is a practical and spiritual book about women who are alone: single parent, single woman, married to a nonbeliever, married to a believer but missing that idealic "couple worship" time, alone in a difficult trial, restless for something different, a dreamer with little or no suppot but a definite call from God for a ministry.

Cindi explores the pain, the reasons, the benefits, the growth, the messages, etc. of being alone. Things I surely had not considered.

I feel prepared for the next inevitable time I encounter a time when I feel alone by circumstances or not feeling understood by anyone. I feel prepared to help other women I know who are looking for some Christian counsel.

I was also encouraged to hear other women talk about the difficulties of being alone and knowing that I was not the only woman that felt some of these things.

Her final chapter about making "alone" time to be with God was very on the mark and a good finale!

Speaking honestly from a sensitive as well as sympathetic heart, Elisabeth Elliot candidly offers her reader a Light at the end of their tunnel. She touches on every circumstance in life that brings us to loneliness and then points us directly to the One who can ultimately and completely fill that void. I love especially the way she brings in her own struggles and experiences. This book reads quickly and is suitable for anyone who may struggle with loneliness. It gave me hope and a renewed confirmation in God's presence and how He works everything, even the bad things, in life for good.

"Why am I so lonely? How can I quit feeling so down?" These are the tough questions many people end up asking. The authors draw on their knowledge of medicine, psychiatry, theology, and their personal experiences to provide sound, biblical answers for overcoming loneliness, along with practical steps for attaining the emotional intimacy we all crave.

In this book, author Gloria Hutchinson offers support and encouragement - both to those who may need comfort and to those who are looking to comfort and support their loved ones or members of their community. The book examines six areas in which one may be struggling (for example dealing with divorce, illness, or even issues of anger). For each situation, she offers specific resources ranging for relevant "story time" anecdotes to scriptural and saintly references and more. Each chapter concludes with aids for reflection and prayer.
The book is a positive and uplifting resource. It also provides a great tool for those looking to comfort people around them who may be undergoing illness or personal tragedy.
